As March Madness approaches, it’s time for college basketball handicappers to begin paying close attention to team’s that are playing for their tournament lives. Every year, 32 teams gain automatic entry through winning their conference’s championship, while the tournament committee rewards the remaining 36 teams an at-large bid in the tournament. With so many teams and limited […]

of the LSU Tigers in the game against the Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena on March 5, 2016 in Lexington, Kentucky.

March means one thing in my universe and the universes of most people like me: madness.  I wish my first NCAA Basketball column for the month could be something positive, like how this could be the year Villanova goes very deep into the tournament.  I can’t do that.  I need to address something that has […]

It is selection Sunday, and the final 68-team bracket has been released for the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Among those teams were the Villanova Wildcats, Temple Owls, and St. Joseph’s Hawks. Villanova finished the regular season with a 29-5 record, and looked to be a one-seed heading into the tournament. However after losing to Seton Hall […]

Depending on who you ask, no sporting event has more effect on the gambling community than March Madness. Office pools are formed. If you’re in college, there’s a possibility that dorm halls have tournament bracket challenges where your resident adviser may or may not give cute girls the advantage. (I can’t confirm nor deny doing […]

during the second round of the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Barclays Center on March 20, 2016 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

Coming into this year’s NCAA Tournament, the Villanova Wildcats were looking to prove that them getting bounced in the Round of 32 last year to the eighth seed North Carolina State Wolfpack was a fluke. Last year as a one seed, Villanova was out of sorts as NC State punched them in the mouth and […]

Pick your cliche. “You’re only as old as you feel.” “Older equals wiser.” In today’s sports landscape, those cliches could not be more false. Sometimes it makes sense.  Many NFL players do not see too much time after age 30.  A professional in the MLB sees his skill level diminish when the magic three, zero is […]

The Villanova Wildcats came into this season with the stench of last season’s tournament loss to North Carolina State in the second round still on their mind. With majority of the team returning, the focus was on seniors Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu to see if they could lead Villanova to the Big East Title […]

Monday night’s National Championship game between the Villanova Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels was all that and more. It had all the bells and whistles and the thrill for the dramatic. When you think of a championship game in any sport, you always think about the game coming down to the final seconds and […]

In Day 3 of the 2016 NFL draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected defensive back Tavon Young out of Temple University. Being selected just out of the top 100 means he will have to come into training camp and earn a roster spot. He will be more of a special teams player as of now, but […]

Louisville Cardinals sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson had a spectacular freshman campaign in 2015. The dual-threat quarterback from Boynton Beach, Florida, passed for 1,840 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 960 yards and 11 touchdowns in Bobby Petrino’s spread offense. The Temple Owls took to Lincoln Financial field for their season-opener against the Army Black Knights, and it was not an exciting outing for the cherry and white as they allowed the Black Knights to run away with a 28-13 victory. On Friday night, the Temple Owls opened up the 2016 regular season against the Army Black Knights. Unlike last season’s opener, where the Owls upset the Penn State Nittany Lions thanks to a ridiculous 135-yard performance from Jahad Thomas.
